Former President Donald Trump speaking in Ohio
New York Attorney General Letitia James is suing Donald Trump and the Trump Organization for engaging in “numerous acts of fraud and misrepresentation” in preparing annual financial statements between 2011 and 2021.
The lawsuit says the fraud was approved at the highest levels of the company, including by Mr Trump himself as well as his children Donald Trump Jr, Eric Trump, and Ivanka Trump. The fraud and misrepresentation also grossly inflated Mr Trump’s personal net worth by billions of dollars.
False and misleading statements were used “repeatedly and persistently” to induce banks to lend money on favorable terms, to satisfy loan covenants, and to induce insurers to provide coverage for higher limits and lower premiums.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the independent arbiter and special master tasked with inspecting all 11,000 documents seized by the FBI from Mar-a-Lago last month cast doubt on Mr Trump’s claims that he declassified the files.
Judge Raymond Dearie expressed doubt about Mr Trump’s reluctance to prove the declassification and remarked: “My view of it is: you can’t have your cake and eat it”.
NY AG James says her investigators “uncovered more than 200 examples of false and misleading asset valuations that were used on his statements.”
— Cancellation of Trump’s business certificates, in a move known as New York’s “corporate death penalty.”
— A permanent ban on Trump and his children serving on any corporate board.
— A 5-year ban on Trump buying commercial real estate in New York.

Trump boasts he could end war in Ukraine
Donald Trump has said that he would meet with Vladimir Putin to stop the war in Ukraine if he were still president.
During a phone interview with Newsmax, host Rob Finnerty said, “speaking of Russia, Vladimir Putin wanted to showcase Russian strength in Ukraine when he invaded in February. Mr President, the opposite is happening, that is clear. If you were in the Oval Office today, how would you do more to engage directly with Vladimir Putin to try to get him to stop this war?”
“Well, I’d talk to him, I’d meet with him,” Mr Trump said. “I mean, there’s no communication with him with Biden, obviously.”

Nikki Haley slams ‘racist’ host of The View for saying she hides Indian ethnicity
Nikki Haley, the former envoy to the UN, has slammed ABC’s The View host Sunny Hostin as a “racist” after she was called out for not using her first name that reflects her Indian ethnicity.
Describing her as a “chameleon”, Hostin took a potshot at Ms Haley when political commentator Alyssa Farah Griffin said she was an “incredibly effective governor in South Carolina” over her potential 2024 presidential run.
“There are some of us that can be chameleons and decide not to embrace our ethnicities so that we can pass, so that we don’t have to go by…” Hostin said on Tuesday’s edition of the daytime political talk show, asking her real name.
